Casino is a facility which houses and accommodates certain types of gambling activities. A public room or building for gambling and other entertainment. A card game for two to four players in which cards on the table are matched by cards in the hand.
The origin and history of casinos and gambling is unknown. The first well-known casino in the world was the Casino di Venezia, which was established in Italy back in 1638. It is interesting to note that this casino is still operational to date.
Everyone loves to have a gamble from time to time. Unfortunately we don’t always win, but the real fun is in the playing, not the winning. Casinos make a profit by offering games of chance where the average payouts are lower than the income produced by the overall wagers.
Facilities and Services
Games available in most casinos are commonly called casino games. In a casino game, the players gamble casino chips on various possible random outcomes or combinations of outcomes. Casino games are also available in online casinos, where permitted by law. Casino games can also be played outside of casinos for entertainment purposes like in parties or in school competitions, some on machines that simulate gambling.
There are three general categories of casino games:
Table Games, Electronic Gaming Machines and Random Number Ticket Games such as Keno and simulated racing. Gaming machines, such as slot machines and pachinko, are usually played by one player at a time and do not require the involvement of casino employees to play. Random number games are based upon the selection of random numbers, either from a computerized random number generator or from other gaming equipment. Random number games may be played at a table, such as roulette, or through the purchase of paper tickets or cards, such as keno or bingo.
A game of chance in which each player has one or more cards printed with differently numbered squares on which to place markers when the respective numbers are drawn and announced by a caller. The first player to mark a complete row or other pattern of numbers is the winner. A form of lotto in which balls or slips, each with a number and one of the letters B, I, N, G, or O, are drawn at random and players cover the corresponding numbers printed on their cards, the winner being the first to cover five numbers in any row or diagonal or, sometimes, all numbers on the card.
In Baccarat each player has three options: Player, Tie, and Banker. When all players have placed their bets, the dealer deals out two 2-card hands, one is the banker hand while the other is the player hand. The hands are added up. If a hand totals over ten, the ten is dropped (I.E. 9+5=14=4). A hand equaled to 10 becomes a 0 or baccarat. The winning hand would be the higher of the 2 and anyone who placed a corresponding bet wins.
Pai Gow Poker
Paigow is dealt from a shoe containing one deck of cards inclusive of 52 cards plus one joker. The joker is a wild card which can be used only as an ace, or to complete a straight, a flush or a straight flush. For each round, seven cards are dealt face up to each hand, starting from the player and alternating between the hands. After the player divides his hand cards, the comparing rules are applied to determine who is the winner. The round is then finished, the outcome is announced and winning bets are paid out.
Roulette is a casino game named after the French word meaning little wheel. In the game, players may choose to place bets on either a single number or a range of numbers, the colours red or black, or whether the number is odd or even. To determine the winning number and colour, a croupier spins a wheel in one direction, then spins a ball in the opposite direction around a tilted circular track running around the circumference of the wheel. The ball eventually loses momentum and falls onto the wheel and into one of 37 ( in French/European roulette ) or 38 ( in American roulette ) coloured and numbered pockets on the wheel.
Keno is a lottery game. The player get a card numbered 1 to 80. The player then picks up to 20 numbers and a wager. The card is then registered and the game begins. The caller announces 20 randomly drawn numbers. The player tries to match as many called numbers to their selected numbers. The more numbers matched the higher the winnings paid against their wager.
Slots are machines that play a number of different games. They are very popular. In general the player will insert coins into the machine and either pull a handle or press a button. This causes the wheels to spin. In older styled slot machines there were 3 wheels. In the newer machines they tend to have 3 to 5 simulated wheels. When the wheels stop, the player is paid based on the pattern of symbols.
Blackjack is a card game played between the house and the player. The dealer deals out two cards to each player and their self. The dealer has one card face up and one down. The players then take turns trying to get as close to 21 without going over. Aces are equal to 1 or 11. Face cards are 10 and number cards are face value. The player calls hit to get a card, and stand to end their turn. A player may also call double to double their bet and may only receive one card and the turn ends. If a player has two identically numbered cards, they may split. This requires them to double their bet and then get two more cards making two new hands that they may play. After all players turns are over, the dealer reveals their card. The dealer then hits if the total is 16 or less and stands on 17 and higher. Everyone who has a hand that beats the dealer without going over 21 wins.
No card game in India is more widely played than the variation of 3-card Poker known as Teen Patti, which is sometimes referred to as Teen Pathi, Flash or Flush. With only three cards to consider, Teen Patti is an easy game to learn and play. A standard 52-card deck is used. As few as two players can have a game for fun, although wagering typically requires three to eight players, with four to seven being optimum. Like 3-card Poker or Brag, the object of the game is to show a hand of a higher rank than those held by the other players or to “bluff” through aggressive betting and cause all of the competitors to fold. The cards rank in order from Ace high to deuce low. The top-ranking hand is three Aces, followed by any other three-of-a-kind known as a “trio,” with three deuces being the lowest of such. Next in order comes the “straight run,” which is three consecutive cards of the same suit. The highest straight run is the A-2-3, followed by the A-K-Q, K-Q-J, and so on down to 4-3-2. Note that 2-A-K is not considered a run.
Paplu / Indian Rummy
Indian Rummy (or Paplu) is a card game in India with little variation from original rummy. It may be considered a cross between Rummy 500 (500 rum) and Gin rummy. It is played with 13 cards and at least two decks, and sometimes jokers (wild cards). It could be that Indian Rummy evolved from a version of Rummy in South Asia that goes by the name "Celebes Rummy", also called Rhuk... Two kinds of sets are possible: a run of consecutive suited cards, and three or four of a kind (with no duplicate suits.) The basic requirement for winning a hand is at least two sequences, one of which must be "pure", i.e., made without any jokers.
Video poker is a casino game based on five-card draw poker. It is played on a computerized console similar in size to a slot machine. After inserting money (or a bar-coded paper ticket with credit) into the machine, play begins by placing a bet of one or more credits and pressing the "deal" button. The player is then given 5 cards (as the game plays similar to five-card draw) and has the opportunity to discard one or more of them in exchange for new ones drawn from the same virtual deck. After the draw, the machine pays out if the hand or hands played match one of the winning combinations, which are posted in the pay table.
